Allianz Risk Transfer AG plans to move domicile from Liechtenstein to Switzerland

Press release | September 25, 2025

Allianz Risk Transfer AG (ART AG) has made the strategic decision to redomicile from Liechtenstein to Switzerland, subject to regulatory approval by the Financial Market Authority (FMA) Liechtenstein and the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) with a target date for completion of the transaction of the re-location in 2026.

Currently, ART AG is domiciled in Liechtenstein with its head office in Schaan and maintains two branch Offices, one in Zurich/Wallisellen, Switzerland and one in Bermuda.

Following its re-domiciliation the Zurich/Wallisellen office of ART AG, becoming the new head office, will seamlessly continue its operations as the new head office of ART AG in Switzerland; there will be no branch office in Liechtenstein. The Bermuda branch will remain. FINMA will become the new regulator of ART AG.

Allianz Risk Transfer AG is streamlining its geographical footprint in Europe. Switzerland is a major international hub for complex insurance and reinsurance business. By relocating its head office to Switzerland, ART AG is looking to simplify its corporate structure, thereby reducing administrative complexity and improving operative efficiency. Additionally, the move will increase proximity to its Switzerland-based clients and the international business network. At the same time, ART AG will leverage the existing European Economic Area (EEA) platform of Allianz Commercial which is well-established through Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE to service its European clients outside Switzerland.

Current operations of ART AG and its branch offices will continue seamlessly. ART AG’s corporate clients and brokers will see no practical change to their market-facing contacts, services, terms of (re)insurance contracts or claims handling.

ART AG’s current ratings – AA- by Standard & Poor’s – are also expected to remain unchanged.

Subject to regulatory approval by FMA, ART AG aims to be established in Switzerland by mid of 2026. The company is in the process of submitting its formal application for an insurance license to FINMA. The new ART AG head office will be established in Zurich/Wallisellen, where the current branch office is located, and be represented by ART AG CEO Lara Martiner.
