Allianz Commercial appoints  Paul McGuigan as Head of Distribution for Europe, Middle East and Africa

Press release | April 1, 2026

Allianz Commercial announced today that Paul McGuigan will become the new Head of Distribution, Europe, Middle East and Africa* (EMEA) of Allianz Commercial and Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (‘AGCS’), with effect from April 6, 2026. Paul will report to Jeremy Sharpe, Chief Distribution Officer at Allianz Commercial. In this new role, Paul will lead distribution across the core EMEA markets which represent around 50% of Allianz Commercial’s revenue, working closely together with underwriting and distribution teams across the region to drive customer and market-facing activities.

This new role follows Allianz’s announcement of four core regions covering the Americas, UK Ireland and South Africa, EMEA, and Asia Pacific, each to be led by a President, Commercial, on the Allianz Commercial Board**. This new structure will be built out over 2026 in phases, and is designed to boost growth in Allianz Commercial’s target markets, further driving the company’s ‘Customer First’ strategy and service delivery for clients and distribution partners.

Jeremy Sharpe, Chief Distribution Officer, Allianz Commercial, comments: “Paul is well-known in the commercial market and has played a key role in further developing many of our most important relationships in North America for Allianz Commercial. With his appointment to this new role, together with our distribution teams across EMEA, we reinforce our aim to provide excellent customer service to our clients, brokers and agents.”

*The Allianz Commercial region ‘Europe, Middle East and Africa’ excludes South Africa which is part of the company’s United Kingdom and South Africa region.
