at Allianz Commercial
- Shanil Williams to be appointed as Chief Regions Officer, Americas.
- Tracy Ryan steps down from her Board role to take up an opportunity outside Allianz.

Allianz Commercial has announced changes to the Board of Management of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE (‘AGCS SE’ as the legal entity of Allianz with Board responsibility for Allianz Commercial). Tracy Ryan, who leads Allianz Commercial in the Americas, has decided to step down from the AGCS SE Board at the end of 2024 to become CEO of the National Council on Compensation Insurance, the not-for-profit U.S. provider of workers’ compensation services. Shanil Williams, current Chief Underwriting Officer, will take over her responsibilities in early 2025. In parallel and from December 1, 2024, Vanessa Maxwell, Global Head of the Financial Lines & Cyber lines of business, steps up to the Board replacing Shanil as Chief Underwriting Officer. These Board appointments are subject to the normal regulatory approvals.
In related moves beyond the Board, Jarrod Schlesinger, Regional Head of Financial Lines North America, will succeed Vanessa as Global Head of Allianz Commercial’s Financial Lines and Cyber lines of business, while Jenise Klein, Regional Head of Property North America, will take on the newly created role of CUO North America. Both she and Jarrod will retain their current responsibilities until successors are confirmed.
Allianz Commercial has also promoted Gabrielle Durisch, currently Global Head of Sustainability Solutions, to the new position of Chief Sustainability Officer from December 1, 2024, reporting to CEO Chris Townsend. She will be responsible for leading Allianz Commercial’s sustainability activities globally, covering both customer solutions and operational topics.

Shanil Williams
Shanil was appointed to the Board of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty in January 2022 as Chief Underwriting Officer (Corporate), subsequently becoming Chief Underwriting Officer in 2023.
Shanil joined AGCS in 2016 as Country Manager for New Zealand. In 2018, he relocated to Munich to take on the role as Global Head of Commercial for Financial Lines before assuming the global leadership of full Financial Lines team at AGCS in 2019. Prior to joining Allianz, Shanil spent 14 years with AIG, and held a number of increasingly senior Financial Lines regional leadership roles in Auckland, Johannesburg, Paris and London. A New Zealand national, Shanil graduated in Business and Finance at the University of Canterbury.
Vanessa Maxwell
Vanessa was appointed as the Global Head of Financial Lines at Allianz Commercial in June 2022, adding responsibility for Cyber in June 2024.
A senior insurance underwriting leader with over 20 years in the industry in both the U.S. and the U.K., Vanessa joined Allianz from Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, where she was Country Manager, UK, and Head of Executive and Professional Lines UK. Previously, she spent 15 years in a variety of increasingly senior roles in AIG and AIG subsidiary Lexington Insurance Company, including Head of PI and Cyber UK, and Commercial Institutions Manager. Jenise Klein
Jenise was appointed as Regional Head of Property North America in May 2021.
She joined Allianz in 2015 on the Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) team based in New York, with a focus on Corporate Property and Capital Solutions, before moving to the Property team in 2021. Jenise is a seasoned leader who, prior to joining Allianz, spent almost nine years with Zurich Insurance Company in progressively more responsible roles, including as an underwriter with both the Primary Casualty business and the Strategic Risk Solutions Group. Jenise holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Risk Management from
Jarrod Schlesinger
Jarrod joined Allianz Commercial in February 2023 as Regional Head of Financial Lines, North America.
He joined Allianz from Chubb where he was Chief Operating Officer, North American Financial Lines. Prior to this, he served in a variety of senior roles, including Executive Vice President, within Financial Lines for Chubb for nearly 14 years. Before Chubb, Jarrod held leadership roles with AIG in New York and The Lexington Insurance Company where he managed the Lloyd's of London Operation for AIG in the United Kingdom. He holds an MBA in Finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, a JD from the Cardozo School of Law and a BA in Economics from Emory University.
Gabrielle Durisch
Gabrielle (‘Gabby’) joined Allianz Commercial in April 2023 as Global Head of ESG & Sustainability Solutions.
She joined Allianz from Zurich Insurance Group where she was Global Head of Sustainability for Commercial Insurance and Group Underwriting since April 2020. She started at Zurich in 2011 and subsequently held several leadership positions in Claims and Finance. Previously, she worked in roles spanning corporate tax, pricing, financial planning and M&A transaction services at Deloitte, General Motors and KPMG. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Edinburgh and is a UK qualified accountant with the ICAEW. She was named one of Business Insurance's Women to Watch in 2023.
