Phuong Ly to lead Allianz Commercial in the United Kingdom

Allianz Commercial today announced that Phuong Ly will be appointed Commercial Managing Director UK, effective 3 April 2025, subject to regulatory approval. In this role he will be leading all of Allianz’s commercial insurance business in the UK spanning digital, mid-market and large-corporate, as well as the engineering inspection, legal protection and fleet business.  He will report to Colm Holmes, CEO Allianz Holdings UK, and to Dirk Vogler, Chief Regions Officer International, Allianz Commercial.  Until his arrival, Nick Hobbs and Luke Baker will continue to provide interim leadership for the Allianz Commercial UK business.

Phuong has more than 20 years’ experience of corporate insurance in executive roles across Distribution and Underwriting. He joined Allianz Australia in his current role as Chief General Manager of the Commercial Division in 2021, leading all the commercial segments across SME, mid-market, fleet & commercial motor, and large-corp as well as personal lines and MGA business.  He will draw on this expertise to drive Allianz Commercial’s business in the UK forward with customers, partners and employees.

Phuong has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry and joined Allianz Australia as Chief General Manager Commercial in October 2021. Prior to joining Allianz Group, he was Chief Underwriting Officer AUSPAC at QBE and before that Executive General Manager, Business Distribution at IAG, as well as holding various other senior underwriting and distribution roles at IAG, CGU, Chartis and Munich Re.
